how do i wear it

Okay, folks.  I did it.  I actually dressed myself the other night.

I wasn't wearing jeans or a v-neck or a t-shirt.  I was dressed up.  Colt took me on a lovely date and I wanted to try something new.  I pulled out a long gray dress that I hadn't worn since before Duke was born.  (Breastfeeding doesn't exactly lend itself to long dresses.)  A date was the perfect occasion for this little number though.  Once I put this outfit on, I immediately took a picture of it and sent it to Reese for her blessing.  And she approved!  Here it is:

Dress:  Thrift Store
Long Cardigan:  Gap
Belt:  Thrift Store
Sandals:  Old Navy

I am not a fashionista and I am not a style blogger.  I will not pretend to be either of those things.  (Yeah, sorry, you're still stuck with mom stuff, weird stories about my life, and baby spit up.)  However, I am trying to put myself together more lately.  So I have a new game.  There are items of clothing in my closet (like the above dress) that I think have potential.  But I have no idea how to wear them or what to wear them with.

So here's what I propose:  I will post pictures of these clothing items.  Whether or not I wear it is up to you.  Either you nicely say it's completely hopeless and I should throw it out immediately ... or you offer style advice and tell me how it should be worn by giving examples.  That's fun, right?  Well, it's fun for me.  I need you, my fancy fashion-forward friends!

  1. Love the idea, Claire! Sometimes it takes a little motivation from other people to want to dress yourself... I have that problem and I have to dress myself for work everyday :)

I don't follow this blog, but I stumbled upon it the other day and it looks like she only shops at the thrift store? Her clothes are super cute and I just thought you would like it:

I really appreciate your comments and will reply to them by email. If you don't receive an email from me, it probably means you're a no-reply blogger. Make sure you fix it so I can respond to you!
