You are such a ham! Along with your fun noises/babble ("blah, blah, blah"), you make some really funny faces! We're entertained just watching you and seeing what you'll do next. You are an easy smile and easy laugh, as you've always been. Some things that make you laugh are watching the dogs play, looking at our wiggling toes, and when we say, "You're ... so ... BIG!"
You eat 5 times a day and 3 of those times are supplemented with baby food and/or rice cereal. You're still just nursing for 15 minutes. You love to pat me, play with my hair, and touch my face while you're eating. It's really sweet.
We don't take you to the doctor again until you're 9 months, so I'm not sure of your exact numbers. I would assume you're around 16 lbs. and there's no doubt that you've gotten longer.
Spitting up has definitely gotten better as you've gotten older and been eating more baby food. However, since you spit up after every feeding no matter what, we're still using towels. Some day, Duke, you'll be able to eat and keep it all down. Sorry you've had to deal with this, but it's almost over! (I think ...)
We've followed your lead and, after showing all the right signs, we have officially phased out the 3rd nap time. It's really nice having you up. This means you're taking a morning nap (2 hours) and an afternoon nap (1.5 hours). And you get a wonderful 10.5 hours of sleep each night.
You're still rolling around everywhere and there have been a few moments when we really thought you were going to crawl ... but not yet. You're so close to sitting up by yourself but we still have to be near you in case you topple over to the side. Something new you can do now is play peek-a-boo. You pull a blanket or burp rag/towel over your face and we say, "Where's Duke?" Then you quickly pull it down and we say, "There he is!" You absolutely love it.
You want to touch and feel everything in your sight. I love when you reach out with both hands to touch my face or show that you want me to hold you. It's amazing to me how well you know me. You know when I'm not in the room and you know when I'm not the one putting you down for a nap. While it can make things difficult at times, it makes me feel very special and very loved by you.
I have loved this past month with you. You are changing so fast and it's hard to believe we're closer to your 1 year old birthday than we are to the day you were born. I love everything about you, sweet boy. You have truly stolen my heart.
