letters to nova - 5 months

October 29, 2014

Dear Nova,

Oh my sweet baby, the time is passing really quickly!

You eat 5 bottles a day and take 4 naps.  The 4th nap is just 45 minutes to an hour long.  (I thought we were done with that nap last month, but we most definitely aren't!)  We are swaddling just your body, leaving your arms completely out.  You're still sleeping 10.5-11 hours at night and taking great naps during the day.  We are at the point where good naps are expected and short naps are a shock.  We're also shocked if you cry when going down for a nap.  Most of the time, we walk out of your room and you are completely quiet as you fall asleep.  I love knowing that you are a well-rested baby.

We had one of our fussiest weekends with you several weeks ago when we stayed at Mimi and Pappaw's house.  You had just gotten your 4 month shots and I think you were teething as well.  It seemed like nothing could soothe your fussiness.  But after a few days, you were back to your normal self.  We were so glad to get our happy baby back!

You love to be tickled and we love hearing you laugh.  You've discovered how fun it is to make raspberries with your mouth.  Rolling from tummy to back is now a piece of cake for you.  You love when we sing/chant "Itsy Bitsy Spider," "Pat-a-cake," and "Fore-bender, Eye-viewer."  My favorite thing you started doing this month was nodding.  We'll talk to you and you'll smile and nod.  It is so funny!

It's really pretty crazy how much you can love someone in just 5 months of life.  I have no idea who you'll be, what you'll like, or what your dreams are, but I am absolutely in love with you.  You are so precious to me, Nova-new.
