letters to veda - 11 months
February 10, 2018
I realized this month for the first time that when I plan meals, I think about 5 people eating rather than 4. You are a pretty great eater. Your favorite things right now are pasta, beef, chicken, carrots, green beans, and bananas.
We are now down to 3 bottles a day (breakfast, lunch, bedtime). We replaced the mid/late afternoon bottle first with a snack. It's hard to believe it's already time to think about putting all the bottles away!
You sleep 12 hours at night and take 2 naps a day. During the week, you take a long morning nap and a shorter afternoon nap because of how school pick-up falls. But on the weekends, you take a shorter morning nap and a longer afternoon nap. We did put a bumper on your crib this month because, just like your sister, your legs kept getting stuck in the slats (even with your sleepsack on). It seems to have solved the problem, and I think you like how cozy it makes your crib feel.
You are my first "official" crawler! Both Duke and Nova did one leg up when they crawled rather than both knees down. You love how quickly you can get around! Also, you finally have teeth! You had two bottom teeth come in at about the same time, and one on top shortly followed. I can tell there are some others that are close to coming in as well.
One of your favorite things to do is listen to your daddy play guitar. You absolutely love all things related to music or dancing. But whenever I'm holding you and bring you close to his guitars hanging on the wall, you get this bashful smile, you look away, and you absolutely will not touch it. It's the funniest thing.
Whenever it's time to go get in the car, go take a nap, etc., I always say, "Okay, let's say bye-bee bye-bee to our toy!" I've done this with all 3 of you and I really think it's helped with transitioning into new activities because it allows you to feel like you're choosing to put the toy away on your own, rather than it being taken from you. Duke and Nova always just threw their toy on the floor when we did this. But the cutest thing about you is that you will grab my hand and place the toy in my hand. It is so precious to me and something I want to always remember.
You are so much fun, Veda-voo. I love making and hearing you laugh. You are simply a joy to be around. We are so thankful you are ours.
