march obliviousness

"March Madness" has always been this unreachable, incomprehensible thing that has flown in one ear and out the other.  I didn't get it and I didn't care to.  Well, now that I've realized I can be a part of it with no prior knowledge, I'm in!

I have filled out a bracket for the first time ever.  I think Colt was a bit disappointed in a few things:

1.  "You wrote it in?"  "Yeah."  "You could have typed it in and printed it off."
2.  "(in looking at my first picks) ... You do know what those numbers mean, right?"  "Nope!"  "It's what seed they are."  "Well, Colt, the whole point of this is that I don't know anything, so I don't really care what seat they are."  "It's seed."
3.  "(after I explained a few of my picks) ... You would have had a better shot if you just went by the numbers for the first ones and then guessed however you wanted for the rest of them."

A few of my reasons for various teams losing various games:
Kentucky - reminds me of chickens and farms and I wouldn't ever want to live on a farm
Butler - i had a teacher Ms. Butler ... you may remember her from this post
Wisconsin - their reporters say rude things about their teachers like "they get off at 2:30; it's a part-time job!"

A few of my reasons for various teams winning various games:
Florida - it's just a great place to vacation
Xavier - x-men, duh
Memphis - my friends and i went on a trip here during spring break and it was great

And my winner, you ask?  WEST VIRGINIA!  Why?  Well, it's close to Virginia and that's where DH and Mackenzie live and they are really fun.

So, there you have it, ladies and gentlemen ... my oblivious version of March Madness.

"I don't want to go among mad people!"
"Oh, you can't help that.  We're all mad here."

After all, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em!
