weekend review - the last long run, karlie-yonce, and sidewalk chalk

On Friday evening, I recorded at Dustin's for The Lockout: A Musical.

Colt got up really early on Saturday to do his long run first.  (Even though I prefer running early, I don't prefer running in the dark.  Especially at Lake Hefner.  Gives me the heebie-jeebies.)  I started my 11 miles around 8:30 and the wind and sun were not working in my favor.  It was, by far, the most difficult long run I've done this time around.  However, I've also never trained to 11 miles.  For my past half marathons, I've only gotten up to 10 and relied on adrenaline for the rest on race day.  So even though it wasn't awesome, I'm just proud that I made myself do it.

I ran the first 5.5 miles in 1:06:55 and I finished in 2:11:04.  I did run the second half faster than the first, but only by 2ish minutes.  So we won't jump up and down about that one.  The last 5 miles were kinda brutal.  It was all I could do to push against the wind and not slump into 12+ minute miles.  But I finished and, as a friend reminded me on Instagram, miles are miles.

I came home and Colt whipped up some eggs for me and then let me take a warm bath.  It was a heavenly ending to my 11 miler.

Saturday night Colt and I went on a little dinner date (Sushi Neko, of course) and then saw Karlie in her last Spring Affair at OBU.

Sometimes I look at her while she's singing and think, where did she come from?  Seriously, her vocal skills are beyond what any of the rest of us can do.  But it certainly comes in handy.  She's like Beyonce and I'm like Michelle.  We just give her all the hard parts and I take the long chill passages that fit perfectly in my tessitura.  Karlie, I'll always be your Michelle.

Yesterday, Duke and I enjoyed an evening of sidewalk chalk-ing.

Last but not least, if you're wanting to win a pair of Firmoo sunglasses or you'd just like a 30% off coupon, don't forget to enter my giveaway.  It ends tonight!
