weekend review - mother's day

I feel like I had an extra long weekend.  Colt was in Chicago for a wedding so Duke and I stayed a few days at my parents' house.

We ate lots of yummy food, took walks, went to Target, attended a birthday party, and just got to be lazy.

On Saturday afternoon, I went to a little women's panel through our small group while my mom kept Duke.  We (20-30somethings) got to listen to wise women (around our the age of our mothers) talk about marriage, motherhood, life, etc.  It was wonderful.  And it was so nice to get away ... even for just 2.5 hours.  While driving home, I was so wrapped up in my freedom and my iced white mocha from Starbucks that I listened to the entire "Call Me Maybe" song by Carly Rae Jepsen on the radio.  How embarrassing.

And Sunday was my first Mother's Day.  I can't believe I'm in that group.  But I'm glad to be in that group.  Duke has blessed my life and I have learned so much by being a mom.  I have also realized how much my own mom has done (and continues to do) for me.

I stayed at my parents' house with Duke on Sunday morning while they all went to church.  I wanted to see Colt when he got in from Chicago and I wanted to get the table set for my mom.  Here's what I came up with:

After we got home, the 3 of us took a long nap and then went downtown to the gardens to enjoy a picnic Jimmy John's dinner.  This was followed by some tasty snow cones.

Colt had several tricks up his sleeve while he was gone all weekend.  So I received several fun little surprises.  I just love that boy.

Hope you all enjoyed your Mother's Day!

    1. haha Well ... when I got to my parents' house on Wednesday night to stay with them, Colt had left a sweet note along with 3 gift cards to some of my favorite quick places to eat/drink (Starbucks, Jamba Juice, and Chick-fil-a). Then, I woke up Sunday at my parents' house and there were flowers on the kitchen table from him. Very sweet. :)
