#16: a simple christmas

One Christmas, when I was probably 6 or 7, the weather was really terrible. It was on a Sunday and my family decided not to drive to church that morning. I think it was the first Sunday ever that I had not attended church as a kid. I wasn't sure what to do with myself.

We all sat in the living room around the fire and my parents read the Christmas story to us. Now looking back on this moment, I'm amazed that neither of them had music responsibilities at church that morning.

That Christmas meant a lot to me as a child and I haven't ever forgotten it. As I feel totally overwhelmed this holiday season, I am longing for a time like this. No stress, no responsibilities, no places to be.

I turned on my computer tonight and thought, "What will I write about?" Immediately, my mind went to this story. It's a simple story and a simple Christmas memory, but most of the time that's what I really prefer ... simple.
