cheesecake factory closet

I don't like The Cheesecake Factory.  I've only been there a few times in my life, but each time, it takes me an eternity to pick what I'm going to eat.  And it's not because it's all so yummy, but because their menu is like a novel.  My thought process goes something like this:  Hmm, maybe I'll try something I've never had ... oh, but that steak looks really good ... eh, too expensive ... mmm, I do love a good pasta though ... but which pasta dish do I choose .... bahh, I'll just get a turkey club sandwich.

(Side Note:  The funny thing about ordering a turkey club sandwich at a restaurant is that you can usually make a better one at your own house.)

In conclusion, I end up eating something extremely plain that doesn't even taste that good.  Not fun.

My closet and The Cheesecake Factory have this in common.  Too many choices.  Now, I do not mean that my closet is full of totally awesome choices.  Just choices that have built up over the years.  Because it's overloaded with options, I end up settling for something that I know that works, is comfortable, and is probably not that cute.

Just like I think The Cheesecake Factory should scale down their menu, so should I scale down my closet.  Not only is it annoying to have to plant my feet, get in position, and shove my clothes to one side in order to fit another shirt on the rack ... but it's just not right.  I don't need all those clothes and I certainly don't wear them all.

So, the closet cleanout will now begin.  Phase 1 will consist of me cleaning out what I know I don't want.  Phase 2 will consist of Reese and Sara cleaning out what they know I won't wear.  Phase 3 will consist of Colt cleaning out what he doesn't really like.  That should do the trick.  Stay tuned!

  1. Hahaha this made me laugh a lot. I have definitely eaten with you at Cheesecake Factory before and I remember you being pretty vocal that you weren't happy about it :)

I really do like the comparison though. Their menu takes an eternity to read and having way to many closet options is also overwhelming. Looking forward to the clean out posts!

  2. I just did a similar purge of my own closet! And one trick I've learned is to organize it by color...sounds weird, but it helps me to pick what I want to wear.
