weekend review - father's day, pepsi refills, and dawson's creek

Friday night we had a little family dinner to celebrate Father's Day, Colt's birthday, and my mom's birthday.

(Duke playing with his Grandpa Skip and Jmama)

Sara's birthday was on the 12th so Reese and I did a little belated celebration for her on Saturday.

And I managed to not ruin any surprises like I did on Reese's birthday.

We ate lunch at Picasso Cafe and were very impressed.  We started with the hummus/spinach/olive tapenade dip trio and decided we probably could've just ordered a couple more of those and been fully satisfied.  However, we went ahead with our 3 meals (fish and chips, pizza, and shrimp risotto) and 29 Pepsi refills.

(Sara got a pink AND red gumball from the machine!)

After Sara opened her pretty presents, we headed to Ingrid's Kitchen for dessert.  We hadn't been there before but figured we couldn't go wrong with coffee and cookies, pastries, pies, cakes, etc.

Because we love food, we decided it was only appropriate to go get snow cones after dessert.

When we got back to my house, we discovered Dawson's Creek on Netflix and immediately began watching.  My gracious day.  No wonder I wasn't allowed to watch this as a youngster.  I didn't know 15 year olds could talk like that on TV.  Especially in the 90s.

(And now I sound like a mom.)

I had so much fun spending the day with Sara and Reese.  It amazes me how we never run out of things to talk about.  We counted it up and the three of us have officially been friends for 12 years.  That's almost half of my life!

Sunday was church.  And Father's Day.  And my first Sunday to play/sing in the service since Duke was born.  In other words, the pressure was on.  There was great potential for a stressful and unsuccessful day.  Duke ended up doing a great job in the nursery for 3 hours and everything went smoothly.  I was so relieved.  The Lord knew I might've had a meltdown otherwise so I thanked Him a lot.

After our usual Sunday afternoon nap, I whisked Colt away to a little surprise Father's Day date at Starbucks while my parents watched Duke.  It was so nice to sit and focus on just each other for a whole hour.  Those moments are treasured so much more now after having a baby.

And I'll leave you with this:  click on this link to see my totally famous husband.

  1. Hahahahaha that is so awesome! I just sent the link of the video to Eric. Good work, Colt.

Also, Reese & Sara are such special friends. I am a little jealous you live in the same town as your besties, but I'm happy for you :)
