weekend review - wrinkles, spackle, and jingles

I am just loving this extra day off today.  Of course, it doesn't really feel that different to me.  I'm still sitting here in the late morning, blogging while Duke is napping, and wearing pajamas.  But Colt is home and that, my friends, is what I love about this day.

So let's rewind.  Friday evening we went to dinner with family for my father-in-law's 60th birthday.  I'm confused how 50 used to sound old and dead, but now I'm totally convinced that you're not old and dead until ... well ... you're old and dead.  Watching my in-laws and my own parents enter into decades of new ages that I thought would be full of wrinkles and slow-moving makes me hopeful of what it's like to get older.  None of them seem "old" to me, they move pretty quickly, and they're not really wrinkley at all.  Good job, parents, for aging gracefully.  Maybe 60 is the new 40.

Saturday was project day.  You guys, the wallpaper is ripped off and the texture is completely finished (walls and ceiling).  Painting is next!

I can't wait to show you some more updates.  After cleaning up and washing the spackle out of my hair, we spent the evening with some friends eating way too many pizza rolls and chips.

Sunday was really fun for all the usual reasons plus one more.  My mom, sister, and I arranged a little jingle and entered a contest.  Eventually, the winner will be determined by public voting, but they're still gathering all the entries right now.  I'll let you know when the voting starts though.  I'm counting on you!

Today I've already enjoyed a wonderful breakfast made by Colt, played with my sweet son, and started reading "7" by Jen Hatmaker.  (And if you wanted to know, I'm loving it so far.)  Hope you're all enjoying your day off!
