weekend review - pain meds, the girlie show, and long naps

Friday was a pretty blah kind of day, as it was filled with some leftover wisdom tooth pain and a really crazy headache.  But that's what pain meds are for.  And ice cream.

Saturday was just somethin' else.  Duke woke up at 7:00 a.m.  SEVEN A.M.!  This is not normal.  He wakes anywhere from 8:00 a.m.-8:30 a.m. every morning.  The only exceptions have been a few mornings of early waking around 7:40 a.m. because of a growth spurt or a loud noise.  So this was very strange.  Naturally, he did this on a Saturday morning and on a morning when I really needed sleep to gear up for the day.  But we followed his lead and got up with him.  I got to go back to sleep for a bit before I officially got up for the day though.  Thanks, Colt.

Karlie and I arrived at The Girlie Show and started playing at 12:20 p.m.  I loved getting to play some of my original music.  I don't do it very often but every time I do, I always tell myself I've got to try and do it more.  I love the writing process, but what fun is it to keep all those songs in my notebook?  None fun.  I plan on being more proactive in finding places to play my music.  I really appreciate The Girlie Show for having us.  (More pictures and videos to come!)

(Thanks for the picture, Sam!)

After the show, I joined these two lovely ladies (AKA our fan club) for a little lunch and a trip to Cuppies.

(Thanks for the picture, Sara!)

Later that evening, we went to go check on our favorite new little girl, Merritt.

Colt and I ended our evening forcing Duke to stay up a little later (even after his ridiculous morning waketime) so that maybe DST wouldn't make things even crazier for us.

I'm not quite sure of a better Saturday - playing music with my sister, lunch/Cuppies with friends, visiting sweet Merritt with my family, and a quiet evening with my husband.

Sunday was interesting.  Duke woke up at 7:20 a.m., but considering the previous morning and the time change, I thought it was an improvement.  The most interesting part about the day was the amount of sleep Duke and I got.  Because he was having some pretty fussy moments in the morning (a time when he's never fussy), I decided to stay home from church.  I wasn't sure if he was sick or if he was just tired and clingy.  Turns out, he napped for 3 hours in the morning and 2.5 hours in the afternoon.  I know!  And of those 5.5 nap hours, I slept for 5 of them.  I'd like to blame it on oral surgery recovery.  You know, because getting one wisdom tooth out is really rough.  Needless to say, it was a lazy Sunday. And I got to spend it all with these two guys.
