gifts, surprises, and surprising gifts

My Mama Lue gave me a gift yesterday.

It was given to her in July of 1947 and she decided to pass it on to me as an early birthday gift this year.

I absolutely love it.  (In case you need reminding, I'm a little obsessed with Alice in Wonderland.)

But that was not the only gift I received yesterday.  Unfortunately, friends, Aunt Flo came to visit.  Yes, this was the first time since January 2011.  It was a bit of a shock and I let her know she was not welcome.  But I knew the day would come.  Needless to say, I napped for an hour yesterday evening before dinner.  I was exhausted.  It reminded me of that first trimester exhaustion.  But we all know we can rule that business out.  Obviously.

Speaking of trimesters, I got together with my little small group of women at Cuppies and Joe on Wednesday night.  At one point, a couple of boys in a car drove by, hooping and hollering at us out the window.  (Do people still say "hooping and hollering" these days?)  I told the girls that I wish I would've yelled, "We've all birthed children out of our bodies!"  That'll kill the moment.

And something else kind of along those lines - I am counting down the days until I can sleep on my stomach again.  I know I've been thinking about it a lot because the last two nights, I've shot up and realized I was not on my side or on my back.  And both of my arms were dead asleep.  I don't know how long I was like that, but gosh it was good.

Lastly, I have three really exciting things to share.

1.  My birthday is tomorrow.  (Actually, that's just exciting for me.)

And, well, you're just going to have to wait on the other two.

Remember, we've already ruled out the pregnancy thing, so don't let your mind run wild.

(Because I know you all are just SO wrapped up in my two exciting things.)

Stay tuned!
