PRE-CHRISTMAS
My 3 favorite pre-Christmas activities were:
1. Cuppies Caroling Night - It was the 3rd annual, might I add. Although only 5 of us were present this year, we were strong and we fought until the end. After a few years of figuring out what songs have worked and what songs have totally not, I think we've finally arrived upon the perfect set list. Next year will be even more awesome.
2. Family Music Night at Brookwood Baptist - Singing with my family is one of the best things about the Christmas season.
3. Christmas Eve Service at OLCC - Colt and I both played, so my family was on Duke-duty during the service. It was a beautiful service.
CHRISTMAS
We spent a few days in OKC with my side of the family, went to Stillwater for a few days to visit Colt's side, and then topped it off with Ashley's wedding in Shawnee on the 28th.

THE NEW YEAR
2013 ended by having some of our sweet friends over for lots of food and some riveting rounds of Scattergories in which we argued about whether or not Euthanasia Equipment counted for 2 points for the category "machines." It was a good try, Colt.
We played at Reese's house on New Year's Day. We ate a tasty brunch and, while the kids napped, we watched this movie and counted our blessings that we weren't having to make canoes out of trees, trap animals for food, and live in -50 degrees.
Duke and I loved all of our extra time with Colt over the break and were sad to see it disappear. (Why do people have to go to work? Can't we all just trade skills?)

I love the new year for it's freshness and blank slate -ness. However, at the same time, it feels a little empty starting all over, taking down the decorations, and knowing that there are a million months before we have "holidays" again. I think that's how a lot of people feel though. It takes about a week for me to really get geared up and excited for the new year. I have ideas for blog posts coming out of my ears, so don't you worry. (Because I know you were.) You'll be hearing all about my New Year's Resolutions, reflections on this past year, "top" blog posts, etc.

I hope you all ended 2013 with the people you love. Oh, 2014. What will you be like? I'm just so curious.
Looks like a wonderful holiday and some great memories were made! I'm still sorting through all my photos...blargh, it's a task. I took your advice and made some 2014 goals and posted yesterday!

ReplyDeleteCheers to the holidays! I am still basking in the holiday haze and still struggling with going back to work. I agree - we should all just trade skills so everyone can just hang out at home. It is the best.
